Fall is in the air…but so are UV rays.

Hand holding Larkly applicator.

Fall is one of our favorite seasons. What’s not to love!? Pumpkin patches, football games, hay rides and trick-or-treating…

All of our favorite activities occur outside, which means we need to remember to apply our SPF. SPF? But it’s not summer! No matter how cool the temperature or how much the sun is hiding behind the clouds, UV rays can cause damage within just a few minutes.

While UVB rays (the ones that cause those nasty sunburns) do decrease during the cooler seasons like autumn, UVA rays (the ones that cause skin cancer, visible signs of aging, and other things) are present year-round. To protect yourself from UVA rays, it is important to use a sunscreen that contains either Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide (luckily, Larkly contains both of these active ingredients-which are also the only active ingredients!). Both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide reflect, absorb, and scatter the UVA rays so they don’t penetrate your skin. This is especially important if you live in the Northern Hemisphere since you are closer to the sun during the colder months. Another cool Larkly fact? Our natural mineral powder sunscreen sits on top of the skin serving as a barrier against those harsh UVA/UVB rays!

Something else we love about autumn is the crisp air and the overcast fall weather. Do you ever just sit by the window and enjoy watching the leaves fall with a cup of hot apple cider? Us too. But we still apply our SPF, even if we are inside. Did you know that UV rays penetrate through glass? Even though the autumn sun doesn’t look bright, its rays are penetrating your window and your skin is exposed! Clouds and overcast might look like they block the sun, but they don’t. Clouds do stop infrared rays, which is why you don’t feel hot—but they don’t stop UV rays! The same goes for when you are in the car driving around to all of these fall activities, kids sports games, running errands, and whatever else has you on the go.

Sunscreen should be part of your daily year-round routine, not a summer supplement.

Practical tips to help you stay safe from UV rays this fall:

Make Larkly part of your daily routine. Start by applying sunscreen during your morning skincare routine. Larkly is easy to apply with its powder brush before or after makeup application. Larkly is fragrance free and hypoallergenic, making it ideal for every routine.

Bring SPF with you. Reapplication every two hours (especially if you are swimming or sweating) for optimal protection. Bringing Larkly with you on all your fall adventures is important in protecting your skin from permanent damage.

Layer up. Use protective layers like a hat and sunglasses to protect sensitive areas when you are outside raking leaves or at the pumpkin patch.

Keep your skin moisturized. The crisp fall air is refreshing, but cooler temperatures brings dry skin. Dry skin not only appears worn and aged, but it also can be painful. Make sure to moisturize daily. Larkly contains Vitamin E, which can enhance moisturization and defend skin from the stress caused by UV light exposure.

Make sure you enjoy the Autumn days before it gets too chilly—just don’t forget your Larkly!
