10 Tips for an A+ Winter Self-Care Routine
With winter in full swing and spring right around the corner it can be easy to forget about ourselves in the hustle and bustle of the season. Here are our top 10 winter self-care tips to help keep you feeling your best and to transition into spring!
Take regular breaks from work or studying
It's important to take a break, even if it's just to do something simple like go for a walk or watch an episode of your favorite show. We love using the Pomodoro Technique. It’s a productive method to practice during your workday that increases focus and productivity while taking breaks.
2. Get plenty of restful sleep
Make sure that you're getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night so that you're well-rested and energized throughout the day. Adequate sleep increases brain performance, mood, and health, setting you up for a great day ahead!
3. Eat healthy meals and snacks throughout the day
Make sure that you're eating lots of fruits and vegetables as well as lean proteins and complex carbohydrates for sustained energy levels.
Exercise helps improve circulation and promote relaxation of the mind and body - so be sure to make time for some physical activity during the colder months of the year.
5. Spend time with friends and family who bring out positive energy in you!
6. Unplug from technology when possible
While we love technology and all of the connections it encourages, it’s important to unplug now and then. Give yourself plenty of time away from screens to relax and recharge your mind and body.
8. Take things slow
There can be a lot of pressure to get things done ASAP and go 110% each day–but don’t be afraid to slow down every once in a while. Make sure that you don’t overexert yourself or become overwhelmed with tasks throughout the season - remember to breathe deep!
9. Prioritize Hydration
It's important to stay hydrated during these chilly months when we tend not to drink as much fluids overall!
10. Most importantly, don't be too hard on yourself!
Wintertime is all about enjoying the moment; treat yourself kindly while creating moments worth remembering fondly many winters later.
